Museum Selfies, Legacy, and Love.
Yesterday's Brown Renfro Pre-Exhibition was a beautiful reminder that legacy lives through community.
Thank you to everyone who chose to spend part of their Juneteenth with us at the University Museum at Texas Southern University. It was an honor to share a preview of the story behind Brown Renfro and to gather with family, friends, supporters, artists, collectors, and new faces who believe in the importance of preserving and carrying forward our stories.
As we look ahead to the full exhibition opening on August 29, I am even more excited about what is to come. This journey has allowed me to witness firsthand the artistic excellence, creativity, and impact of Professor Leon Renfro and Bruce Brown. Serving as a steward of their work and helping bring their stories to new audiences has been one of the greatest honors of my life.
Their artistry continues to inspire us, challenge us, and remind us of the power of art to connect generations. My hope is that visitors leave the exhibition inspired not only by their work, but by the countless artists whose contributions continue to shape our world.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We look forward to welcoming you back in August.
